1. Is Maine-ly Elder Care a licensed agency?

Yes, Maine-ly Elder Care is a registered Personal Care Agency with the state of Maine.  We have two locations: Oakland and Portland, ME

2. What is a Personal Support Specialist and what can they do?

Personal Support Specialists can do a variety of tasks. They are able to assist consumers with bathing, dressing, personal care, meal preparation, errands, grocery shopping, doctor appointments and light housekeeping. A registered nurse develops a plan of care specific for each consumer's needs.

3. What kind of training do Personal Support Specialists have?

Personal Support Specialists are trained in a 50 hour curriculum that was developed by the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services. The training is taught by registered nurses and includes demonstrations and redemonstrations by the students.

4. Are criminal background checks done on the staff?

Yes, criminal background checks are done on every individual hired by Maine-ly Elder Care. We also keep an updated copy of drivers' licenses and car insurance.

5. Is the agency contracted with any state agency for individuals who qualify for help with services?

Yes, Maine-ly Elder Care is contracted with Elder Independence of Maine (EIM), which is the home care coordinating agency for the state of Maine. We also contract with the Veteran's Administration and insurance companies.
